With a history of innovation and creativity, Fuji Television's dramas continue to entertain and warm the hearts of millions of loyal fans.

In 1981, Fuji Television released "From the Northern Country". This drama depicted the big love of a small family and enchanted viewers of all ages. In the late 1980s, Fuji Television produced a number of dramas with the target audience being female viewers in their late teens and early 20s. This radical demographic shift proved to be an immediate success, giving birth to a new sub-genre called "trendy drama". This new style became a social phenomenon, creating a massive shockwave that forever changed the landscape of the Japanese television drama industry.

Building upon this success, Fuji Television has continued to create countless hit dramas and remains the highest-rated network in Japan. In order to stay one step ahead of our competitors, Fuji Television recently reformatted to include a Saturday night 11pm time-slot which exclusively airs dramas with innovative and unique ideas. This fresh approach has garnered much attention from younger viewers.

Fuji Television has employed the "one-software, multi-use" marketing philosophy ahead of its competitors. After being broadcast, most of our dramas are sold as DVDs or adapted into books, motion pictures, and stage performances. Programs that started out as weekly Fuji Television dramas, like "Bayside Shakedown," "Umizaru," and "HERO," have gone on to become box office hits on the silver screen. Proving their international appeal, Fuji Television dramas have been sold overseas to Asian countries such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China, as well as other countries worldwide.
