Toshiba Grand Concert 2017

Inviting a prominent conductor and orchestra from overseas every year to perform with a splendid list of soloists, the Toshiba Grand Concert welcomes its 36th year this year.

For 2017, we invite NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra (previously known as NDR Symphony Orchestra) and conductor Krzysztof Urbański for a rich and beautiful timbre. Founded in 1945, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra continues to be one of the leading groups in Germany and has had a number of the renowned conductors in the past including internationally recognized Günter Wand, and fascinates Japanese classical fans for their traditional sound as one of the leading orchestras in Germany.

The soloists this year are Sayaka Shoji for violin and Alice Sara Ott for piano, both renowned artists and frontrunners in the world of classical music. They will be joining the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra for programs that include masterpieces by Antonin Dvořák and Richard Georg Strauss, guaranteed to be outstanding performances that I trust not only the classical music fans but first-time goers will be able to appreciate and enjoy.

Whether you’re a core Classical music fan or a newcomer to the scene, we’re sure that the concerts will exceed your expectations!
