Inviting a prominent conductor and orchestra from overseas every year to perform with a splendid list of soloists, the Toshiba Grand Concert welcomes its 33rd anniversary this year.

For 2014, we invite the Oslo Philharmonic and Russian conductor Vasily Petrenko for a rich and beautiful timbre. The Oslo Philharmonic first appeared in the TOSHIBA Grand Concert series in 1993 with Latvian conductor Mariss Ivars Georgs Jansons. It has been 18 years since their last visit to Japan in 1996.

Vasily Petrenko is one of the leading conductors in the world of Classic music, along with Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Harding and Dudamel. He is currently the top conductor at Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Symphony, achieving many successful collaborations between Europe and the U.S.

Joined by soloists Alice Sara Ott (Piano) and Akiko Suwanai (Violin), who have appeared in previous Toshiba Grand Concerts, they are highly talented and successful artists who perform internationally.

Whether you’re a core Classical music fan or a newcomer to the scene, we’re sure that the concerts will exceed your expectations!
