The Full Monty

Nominated at the British Academy Film Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Music Score, “The Full Monty” was turned into a musical on Broadway three years after the movie became a mega box-office hit. Now after 9 Tony Award nominations, the daring theatrical masterpiece finally arrives in Japan!

Formerly a worker of the steel mill in Buffalo, NY, Jerry is currently unemployed and commutes to a job placement office on a regular basis only to collect unemployment checks. His son is about the only thing that brings him comforting thoughts, but he cannot even afford to pay child support and his divorced wife is edging closer to snatching away his parental authority. At the unemployment office, Jerry’s former colleagues at the steel mill gather, searching for jobs as well.

On the other side of town, women are laying down big money for a touring male striptease act. Among the overheated audience is Jerry’s best friend Dave’s wife. Witnessing their outraged enthusiasm and the mocking male strippers, Jerry decides to organize a similar act of his own, with the intent to earn lots of money. This act, involves a strip show that is “Full Monty”, or the ultimate nude show.

The men who gathered at the show’s audition all have their problems and high hopes of for making the show a success. But as the day draws closer, each of the 6 strip dance performers begin to feel agitated due to the stress of dance practice and the weight of their own personal problems. Can these six “Full Monty” men really put on a successful strip show?
