Ancient Egypt in Torino

The collection of the Museo Egizio (Egyptian Museum) located in the city of Torino, situated in the Northwest region of Italy, ranks as one of the finest in the world along with other Egyptian collections belonging to renowned museums such as The British Museum and the Louvre.

A significant part of the museum’s finest works come from the collection of Bernardino Drovetti, a colonel who served in Napoleon’s Egyptian Campaign and later became French Consul to Egypt. The museum’s collection continued to grow through purchases and excavations to amass over 30,000 pieces.

Ancient Egypt in Torino features approximately 120 highlight pieces from the Museo Egizio, including masterworks such as “Group Statue of Amun and King Tutankhamun” as well as colorfully decorated wooden sarcophagi, mummies and papyrus.
