Returning to TV screens this summer for its fifth series is “Emergency Room 24 hours”. The series premiered in 1999, gaining popularity and a great number of fans by depicting the reality of critical care in the hospital. This time the main character will be Kaede Kojima, doctor and head of medical office whose challenge is to build a “rescue team” at the emergency medical care center within the National Minato University Hospital. Despite feeling distressed about daily occurrences and struggling under a lack of team work, Kaede faces life with genuine sincerity. Her supporting actors are organ transplant specialist and E.R. doctor Mamoru Natsume (Saburo Tokito), and Masaharu Honjo (Kuranosuke Sasaki) as an outlaw E.R. doctor who constantly collides with Kaede in principle of education or operation of the medical office.

The long awaited 5th series will focus on new types of urban crime, teenager delinquency, and problems of organ transplant under death of the brain due to changes in organ transplant laws. New critical care issues unique to the modern metropolis Tokyo in current times, or rather, 2013, will be pursued thoroughly that it may seem more true to life than real life.
